Dorset has seen a week of rain to cap off the summer and now things are looking to get colder.

Dorset saw heavy rain at the weekend following a yellow weather warning from the Met Office, and things are set to be noticeably colder - though thankfully much drier - this next week.

Thursday is looking to be the coldest day of the week, though the weather will be largely overcast or even sunny.

In Weymouth, though the highest temperatures are expected to be around 16 degrees during the day, it could go as cold as six degrees (on Thursday) in the early morning and at night.

Dorchester is much the same, meanwhile in Shaftesbury things could go as low as three degrees

A spokesperson for the Met Office commenting on the national forecast said: "Rain will work southwards across the country tomorrow bringing cold northerly winds with it. This markedly cold, showery airmass spreads across the whole of the UK by mid-week with hail and thunder in places."

This year was kicked off with severe flooding when Storm Isha wracked the Dorset coast in January. Even properties at the top of Portland had water up to their knees.

It is no surprise that some months saw record rainfall, with some seeing entire months worth of rain in just a few days.

Dorset saw half a year's rain in just its first three months of this year. February saw a new record for rainfall, and March was twice as wet as usual.

June saw some of the best weather of the year, even seeing some heatwaves. However, the end of July enjoyed temperatures hotter than Ibiza, going as hot as 30 degrees in Weymouth, bringing more than a few people out to the beach.

August has been relatively poorer weather, with a number of showers usually followed by overcast days.
