The fire service is calling on homeowners to ensure their chimney is swept ahead of the winter months.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue (DWFR) has been supporting this year’s national Chimney Fire Safety Week, which ran from September 2 to September 8.
The campaign urged homeowners to act responsibly by having their chimneys professionally swept to prevent damage and household fires.
Now DWFR has issued key safety tips as the campaign draws to a close.
A spokesperson said: "Use a reputable chimney sweep to carry out the work.
"Use the correct fuel for your burner or stove and ensure you store the fuel away from it.
"If you are burning wood ensure it is well seasoned and of a low moisture content."
