The county's biggest rural celebration kicks off today, so we thought we'd put together everything you need to know.

Dorset County Show is taking place at Dorchester Showground on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8 promising days packed with entertainment and new experiences.

What's on: 

For the first time ever, Atkinsons Action Horses will appear at the show, promising to excite audiences of all ages with a stunt performance. It is the troupe’s first appearance in Dorset.

The IMPs Motorcycle Display team will be revving their engines to the awe of fire jumps and routines in what organisers say will be an unmissable show.

There will also be tomahawk throwing displays, a huge flock of alpacas, giant pumpkins weighing more than 1000lbs, horses and ponies, vintage tractors and steam engine displays, a bees and honey section and a dog show

More than 350 stalls will be at the show, selling various goods from crafts to local food.

Opening Times: 

The show will be open from 8.30pm to 6pm on both days.  

You can leave the show and re-enter on the same day however you must get a stamp at the gate as you leave. 

How to get there: 

If you are driving, use the postcode DT2 7SD. Parking at the County Show is free of charge. 

When near the show, follow the yellow road signs for public parking. The county show road signs will begin a few miles out from the show. 

You can also walk to the show from Dorchester using the greys bridge and blue bridge footpaths.

There will also be a free shuttle bus from 8am stopping at Poundbury - Mansell Square, Clarence Road, Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester South Station and Acland Road before arriving at the showground. 

These buses will pick up and drop off at each stop every 30 minutes across the weekend - with the last bus leaving the County Show at 6.30pm daily.

Tickets:

Entry costs £24 at the gates for adults. If you enter the show at a slightly later time of 3pm you get a reduced ticket of £15. 

Children go free.
