Work is progressing on a drive-through coffee shop on Portland.

The new Starbucks set to open on Hamm Beach Road looks complete with the car park ready and the shop looking ready to go.

Whilst visiting the site, the Echo saw flowers and pots being laid out at the front of the shop, whilst workers inside appeared to be putting the finishing touches to the building.

Despite everything on the outside looking finished, Starbucks has remained tight lipped on an opening date although an announcement is expected around the end of the month.

Starbucks were approached for comment, but did not want to add any further from their previous statement from July, when a spokesperson said that they are 'looking forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Portland, Dorset in the near future.'

The site is located next to Portland Harbour and close to the sailing academy, opposite Lidl.

As reported by the Echo, the company has already been interviewing for positions at the site, which will be a sit-in venue and a drive-through.

There have been concerns over the site about extra litter, traffic and the impact that the building would have on Portland’s landscape.

These included the design of the building not reflecting the unique waterfront setting and the expanse of 76 car parking spaces.

Natural England also said it was worried about the litter likely to be generated by the drive-through and asked for proposals to deter people walking from the site to the Hamm Beach.
