A teenage girl from Portland is making waves on the music scene, with her songs being played across the world.
Sulis Baird, 16, has been composing music since she was seven years old.
With the support of her parents, she has been writing, producing and recording her own material - all from a music studio in the dining room at her home.
Her latest single Comes Down to This has had more than 1,400 plays on Soundcloud in 20 countries across the world, including Australia, Vietnam, Poland, Indonesia, Egypt, South Korea and the USA .
Sulis says she is excited to see her song gain popularity and that it has encouraged her to continue following her dream of being a singer/songwriter.
She said: "I've always wanted to be a singer since as long as I can remember. I write, produce and record my own work myself.
"Writing music is really hard. It took quite a few years to get to where I am now. It can be quite pressuring especially because I’m all by myself.
"But my parents have been really supportive and bought me equipment like a mini keyboard, computer and Logic Pro music recording app.
"Now I’ve got people who want to hear it, it’s easier to keep going."
Comes Down to This is an acoustic song about the fear of failure and striving for success. When writing her songs, Sulis said she is inspired by artists like Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande as well as drawing on common experiences.
She added: “I like to take people’s emotions, what they feel and turn it into my own style.
“Music is powerful because it makes people feel different ways.
"It can transcend across the world. It doesn’t matter who you are what language you speak; music is universal to everyone."
Three of Sulis' songs have recently been played across the South of England on BBC Solent - Comes Down to This, Tonight and In My Mind.
She is currently studying A Levels in Philosophy, English Literature and Music Technology at Sir John Colfox Academy in Bridport.
Alongside her studies, Sulis hopes to continue building a dedicated fanbase.
She added: “I would like to create my own community of people who listen to my music and relate to it.
"I want to have this community where everyone feels respected and loved."
