DETECTIVES investigating the death of a man at a holiday park in Dorchester have released two people, concluding there was "no third party involvement" in the death.

As previously reported, on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 12.27am Dorset Police received a report raising a concern for the welfare of a man believed to be in Heron Lake, situated within Warmwell Holiday Park, Crossways.

Emergency services attended and a man aged in his 70s and from Birmingham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following initial enquiries, a man and woman – both aged in their 50s and also from Birmingham – were arrested on suspicion of murder as further investigative work was carried out into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and both were released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "After carrying out extensive enquiries, detectives are now satisfied there was no third party involvement in the death and the man and woman have been released from under investigation. They will face no further police action.

"Dorset Police will continue to carry out enquiries on behalf of HM Coroner as part of the inquest process."
