A woman from Dorset has told of the magical moment that her partner dropped down on one knee and proposed to her in amongst a field of nearly one million sunflowers

Zoë Miller, 28, took a magical trip to the Maiden Castle Sunflower Farm in Dorchester alongside her now fiancé Carl Phillips, 33 where he popped the question and asked her to marry him.

Zoë who travelled down from Bournemouth said: “It was a massive surprise, that morning we were going around and doing our food shop like normal.

“It was so beautiful with all the yellows and greens. He proposed right at the end of the trail when no one was around.”

She explained that they had come across the sunflower trail on Instagram and made arrangements to visit with family members who were also unaware of Carl’s exciting plans.

Zoë added: “It was beautiful, and I am so glad that we went - We did end up buying some sunflowers at the end too.”

The newly engaged couple now have their sights set on a 2026 wedding and the artist that created the beautiful driftwood heart that the pair posed in front of following the proposal even reached out to see if they would like the sculpture to be part of the backdrop on their big day.

The sculptures which were scattered throughout the trail were created by a local artist from Crewkerne called Dan.
