Weymouth Angling Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary at its club house on Commercial Road.
The society opened its headquarters in 1974 in a purpose built building in the harbour after meeting in local pubs since it was established in 1904.
The building survived a fire in 1996 and in 2013 the society had to fight to prevent the the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council from demolishing the building to turn it into a car park.
Now though, the society is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of events that tie in with its annual sea angling festivals in partnership with Weymouth Town Council.
The festivities kick-off on Saturday, September 7 as the shore fishing competition gets underway followed by the council's shore fishing competition on the Sunday.
The following Saturday, the society boat competition gets underway with the council boat fishing taking place on the Sunday.
On Saturday, September 14 there will be a party from midday until 4.30pm before the fishing gets underway.
On Sunday, September 15 the trophies from the sea fishing competition will be presented at the clubhouse at 7.30pm.
Then, on Friday, September 20, a disco and family fun evening for club members will take place from 7.30pm.
Finally, the celebrations will conclude with president's night on Tuesday, September 24 - the official anniversary date.
Festival programmes and entry forms are available from the society's clubhouse with entry fees £10 a day and £5 for juniors.
Remaining competition entry dates are on Friday September 6 and Friday September 13.
