An unoccupied tent was discovered by police in Weymouth.

Officers from Weymouth and Portland Police have been conducting foot patrols in the afternoon in the areas of the town centre and Brunswick Terrance.

According to police, an unoccupied tent was found on Tuesday, August 27 which was reported to Dorset Council for removal.

High visibility patrols have been continuing in the town while there are more people in the area during the holiday.

The increased police presence is part of Dorset Police's 100 Days of Summer initiative, which targets anti-social behaviour.

This summer, the neighbourhood policing team has been working with members of Dorset Council’s Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) to provide 100 days of highly visible uniformed foot patrol during the summer months.

A spokesperson from Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Patrols from the Neighbourhood Policing Team were conducted for 100DaysOfSummer in the town centre and along Brunswick Terrace.

"We came across an unoccupied tent that is going to be reported to our council colleagues for removal."
