A woman kicked and punched another woman in a row over a hoodie.

In a separate incident she was also accused of kicking in the door of the wrong flat as she sought someone she had an issue with.

Poppy Miles, aged 32, of Dorchester Road, Weymouth, appeared in Weymouth Magistrates Court to plead guilty to criminal damage, failing to surrender to the court at the appointed time, and assault by beating.

The charges relate to two incidents. The first happened in Weymouth on December 20, 2023. Miles damaged a door and door frame to the value of £109.73 belonging to the Aster Housing Group.

The second, separate incident happened on March 20, 2024, in Bournemouth where Miles assaulted a woman in the street.

Charles Nightingale, prosecuting, told the court regarding the first incident in the early hours of the morning Miles kicked at the front door of a property she believed belonged to someone that 'she wanted to have an issue with', causing damage to it. It was, however, the wrong flat.

Mr Nightingale then moved on to the second matter in Bournemouth, telling the court that Miles had been on a night out and was seen on CCTV sitting on the pavement with another person.

Two people including a woman are seen walking down the road, and Miles got up, went up to the woman and assaulted her.

Mr Nightingale said several blows were struck, knocking the person to the ground. When the victim gets up, Miles resumes the assault until an article of clothing - believed to be a 'hoodie' belonging to Miles - is taken off by the victim and given to Miles.

Miles then kicks the victim in the chest. Police then arrive and arrest Miles for the 'unprovoked assault.' No complaint was made by the anonymous victim.

Lee Christmas, mitigating, told the court that Miles is now in a very different situation having entered a loving relationship, finding accommodation, recovering from drinking and becoming pregnant.

Chair of the magistrate's bench, Graham Westbrook, gave Miles a community order of 12 months within which she must complete 12 mental health sessions and 20 rehabilitation requirement activity days.

She has been fined £120 and must pay compensation to Aster for the door, totalling £109.73. No court costs or a surcharge was imposed.
