An environmental group is celebrating its third anniversary of cleaning the Dorset coast with a big litter pick.

The Weymouth and Portland Marine Litter Project was founded by Jane Fuhrmann and Dave Taylor with the main objective being to create community-based projects aimed at reducing the pollution from litter in our seas and on our beaches.

The pair regularly host litter picks around Dorset, recycling as much as possible to make sure it doesn’t end up back in the sea and on the beaches.

On Sunday, September 29, from 10am-12pm, the community interest company (CIC) is hosting a litter pick across Portland, starting from Newground Car Park.

The event will cover the area of Fancy’s Farm to the sculpture quarry including the Olympic rings.

In celebration of the big anniversary, alongside hot drinks, there will also be a birthday cake.

Everyone is welcome to the event, including children and dogs and all equipment is provided except gloves.

Those attending are advised to dress for ‘the British weather’ and if you would like to reserve a spot, visit: https://shorturl.at/XewaZ.
