A rescue was underway in Portland today after a man was found "in difficulty."
A major emergency response rushed to the aid of man, including the coastguard, lifeboat teams and paramedics, at midday today, Saturday, August 24
It was reported that his vessel was "in difficulty."
The coastguard helicopter was also seen flying around the Portland area at from 1.20pm.
The man was airlifted to safety by the coastguard and passed into the care of paramedics.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "We have been co-ordinating an incident involving a vessel in difficulty off Portland in Dorset today, August 24.
"We were alerted just after 12 noon, and Portland Bill and Wyke coastguard rescue teams were tasked alongside the HM Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on Solent and Weymouth RNLI all weather lifeboat.
"The man was air lifted from the lifeboat by the HM Coastguard helicopter and passed to the care of South West Ambulance Service."
