OUR pub of the week is a community pub that prides itself on its team, which works hard behind the scenes.
Slap bang in the middle of Southill in Weymouth sits The John Gregory, a modern and stylish pub which underwent a £500,000 refurbishment some five years ago.
It was at this time that the pub was taken over by Victor Szkolski, who had been known for turning around a number of pubs in Weymouth.
Now the baton has been passed on to his 21-year-old son Jakub, who is running the operation at the popular local pub.
For young licence holder Jakub though, it is the team behind him who he says makes the pub as popular as it is.
He said: "At the John Gregory, we have two major things that we focus on.
"Providing a great service for a great value of money and looking after our staff.
"The majority of our staff have been here since the beginning, they are very loyal and are happy when they work here.
"They provide a good service because they have a smile on their faces - it is a happy place to be."
The John Gregory is the only pub in Southill, and Jakub said this gives a big "community vibe" to the pub.
He added: "We have a huge community, we have a lot of people who support this pub and we support them.
"We have the regulars and the locals who come every week.
"We like that community vibe, this is the only pub in the area and Southill is a big community."
The pub features a spacious seating area for customers to dine and a bar area complete with a darts board and pool table for those just wanting drinks.
A surprisingly spacious outside seating area is also popular for a hot day, but is equipped with heaters for those cold winter nights.
Mr Szkolski added: "We are known for food and drinks, a mixture of both. We have a beautiful bar area and a restaurant, we have table service in the restaurant and if someone wants to come for a drink they are welcome."
"Monday to Thursday we have two meals for £16.50, from 12pm to 6pm we do a light lunch for £7 which is two courses, that is a fan favourite
"On Sundays, we do a brilliant plated Sunday roast, which is also very popular."
