A senior police officer from Dorset has been charged with a drink driving offence.
Detective Superintendent Paul Kessell has been suspended from duty following the alleged incident on Sunday, August 4.
He had previously led Dorset Police's professional standards department and has been charged with drink driving.
Dorset Police has said that the 45-year-old was not on duty at the time of the incident .
He is due before Southampton magistrates on September 13 charged with driving while over the prescribed legal alcohol limit.
