A coastal footpath on Portland has been closed because of a landslip.

Part of the path on the west side of the island - which is part of the South West Coastal Path -has been closed starting today.

The closure starts near the priory corner and goes southward for about 475 metres. A small section near the quarry remains open, but it almost immediately shuts again until near Blacknor Fort - a distance of around 380 metres.

The closure notice issued by Dorset Council remains in force for 21 days, however, this is anticipated to be superseded by a longer-term traffic regulation order.

Alternative routes have been signposted.
