A driver has been caught at more than double the speed limit in Weymouth. 

Officers from Dorset Police have issued over 86 tickets for driving offences in the Weymouth area last week.

These were during police patrols from the No Excuse Team in and around Weymouth, which was supporting the Neighbourhood policing team. 

One of these offences involved a driver who was caught speeding at 68mph in a 30mph road. The person is now due to appear in court. 

Other offences include two mobile phone offences, six seatbelt offences, two no insurance reports, 74 speeding offences and two vehicle were seized. 

These patrols will continue daily in the Weymouth area.

A spokesperson from Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Last week, police officers from our No Excuse Team have been on patrol in and around Weymouth, supporting Neighbourhood Colleagues.

"They have issued over 86 tickets for driving offences, two mobile phone offences, six seatbelt offences, two no insurance reports, 74 speeding offences and two vehicle seizures. 

"One driver was caught speeding at 68mph in a 30mph road. This individual will be off to court.

"These patrols will continue daily in the Weymouth area."
