Choir members from Dorset travelled almost 500 miles to give the "performance of a lifetime" at a popular theatre festival.
Rock Choir is a contemporary choir group comprising members from 40 groups across the country including Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport, Poole, Fareham, Winchester, Chandlers Ford, Hedge End and Portsmouth.
Members from Weymouth and Poole were led by the Rock Choir Leader Stacey Hobday, who performed in a packed out venue at the Edinburgh Fringe festival as part of Rock Choir's 23 nights of performances across the month of August.
The concert features a mix of feel-good, pop, rock and chart songs from popular artists such as Guns’n’Roses and Whitney Houston.
Stacey Hobday said: "We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Edinburgh Fringe, after being booked to perform in 2020 (which was cancelled for obvious reasons) it was a pleasure to represent Dorset and finally get the chance to perform.
"The Dorset Rockies sang their hearts out and gathered fantastic crowds when we performed outside the iconic Dome on George Street and a packed audience for our show in the evening on Sunday, August, 4. A few of the choir were also delighted to get a quick photo with Debbie McGee!"
Last year a special fundraising concert was held in hour of Stacey who celebrated ten years leading four Dorset Rock Choir groups in Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth and Poole.
It also marked the end of an era as she stepped down as leader in Bridport, Dorchester and Poole the same year.
Rock Choir is part of a network with more than 33,000 members in 400 local communities, aiming to offer an alternative experience to the traditional classical choirs, with an ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit.
The Edinburgh Fringe run will see two different shows and choir groups performing every night to ensure that as many as possible have the opportunity to perform in front of a packed audience. Each choir group comprises of 60 singers who will perform a 45-minute set.
The new Rock Choir term begins in September and new members are welcome. Find out more or sign up for a taster session here: www.rockchoir.com/join
