Twelve new buildings and redevelopments have been nominated have been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The 12 nominations for the Dorchester Civic Society’s Derek Beauchamp Award are being evaluated. The award recognises the quality developments and restorations around the town.
Sites up for the award include the Brewery Building at Brewery Square, Fairfield Road improvements, Dorset Museum and Art Gallery extension, Barrack House and the new housing development at the rear of High West Street.
The winner of the award will be announced at the civic society’s AGM on Tuesday, October 22.
The award is named after Derek Beauchamp, a former member and chair of the society who passed away in August 2014. In 2017, the Eastgate scheme was given the award.
Previously launching in 2017, the biannual event was put on hold due to the pandemic, however the society felt that it was an appropriate time to bring the award back to mark 50 years since it was founded in 1974.
