A communication board has been installed on Weymouth seafront in a move to make the beach more accessible.
Weymouth Town Council have unveiled the new communication board near the beach office.
A communication board is a sheet of symbols, pictures or photos that a child will learn to point to, to communicate with those around them.
Speech is difficult for some children.
Some children find it difficult to make people understand what they are trying to say.
They might say less than they want to because the words are hard to say.
If the child is able to show their listener as well as tell them what they are trying to say they are more likely to get their message across.
The board includes command words, questions and beach items or animals with pictures which can help visualise the words.
A spokesperson for Weymouth Town Council said: "We believe Weymouth is an amazing place to live, work and visit.
"We want to share the joy of the town with as many people as we can.
"To make our town more accessible we have installed new communication boards at the beach office, opposite Rossi’s on the prom and near the donkeys.
"With the sun shining all weekend we hope you enjoy the new addition."
