A man has been jailed for attacking two police officers who rushed to the scene of a reported assault.

David Stephen Dymond, aged 33, and of Commercial Road, Weymouth, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, possession of a class B drug and threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.

Dymond appeared at Poole Magistrates Court on Friday, August 19, following a late night incident which saw a woman rushed to hospital.

He will serve four concurrent months in prison for assaulting an emergency worker and he must also pay £200 in compensation.

On account of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence he has been given a deprivation order and cannot use a knife.

Finally, Dymond admitted to possessing the class B drug cannabis which the court has ordered to be destroyed.

It was initially reported that the woman was assaulted at an address in Commercial Road, Weymouth at 11.21pm on Wednesday, August 7.

She was taken to Dorset County Hospital via land ambulance.

Police attended and it was further reported that two officers were assaulted, but did not sustain any serious injuries.

Dymond was then arrested on suspicion of assault and drugs offences.

The individuals were known to each other and police would like to assure people that there was no information to indicate any threat to the wider public.
