A Dorchester primary school is overjoyed after being named best of the year in a prestigious award scheme.

The Prince of Wales School was awarded the title of 'Primary School of the Year 2024' at the Google Reference Schools and Colleges (GRS&C) Awards Evening in London.

The inaugural awards ceremony celebrates excellence in utilising Google for education. Educators from across the UK and Ireland attended the evening.

Prince of Wales Headteacher Gary Spracklen is overjoyed.

He said: "Winning the Primary School of the Year Award is a tremendous honour and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire school community.

"This accolade belongs to our exceptional staff, dedicated volunteers, supportive families, and, most importantly, our incredible pupils who inspire us every day. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved together."

In addition to winning Primary School of the Year, the school were also nominated for the STEM Excellence Award.
