ORGANISERS have reported that tickets to Dorset Seafood Festival are 'selling at a storming rate'.

The festival will return to Weymouth Peninsula on September 7 and 8 for its 16th year.

The 2024 edition of the festival was originally cancelled earlier this year, with organisers blaming the increase in the site fee.

But three weeks after announcing the festival cancellation, organisers revealed that it would return.

After a public outcry a group of local businesses decided to intervene - allowing the popular event to go ahead this year.

The annual festival was founded in 2008 and over the years grew to become one of Weymouth’s biggest events.

In 2021 it moved location from Weymouth harbourside to Weymouth Peninsula and introduced a ticketed entry charge.

This year's festival promises Dorset and UK seafood, the best of Dorset ales, English sparkling wine, cocktails, live music curated by local legends The Leggomen and a line-up of seafood chefs.

Organisers say: "Tickets for the event have been selling at a storming rate and there are more food producers, chefs and stands than ever before."

There will also be a pub garden and wine garden at the festival, sponsored by Hall & Woodhouse and Louis Pommery England respectively.

The Nook Cocktail Club will sponsor the Après Sea stage and serve cocktails from the brand new ‘Sipping Container’ bar to the later time of 8pm on the Saturday.

Festival director Sophie Kermani said: “We are so proud of the Dorset Seafood Festival, it draws in visitors from all over the country and indeed from as far as Canada!

"As always we have such an incredible array of seafood on offer and this year we have more seafood stands than ever.
