Portland-based sailor Mickey Beckett has missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics.
After several postponements to the Men's Dinghy medal race, Beckett finally had a chance to race for a medal at the Marseille Marina.
The sailor came into the race in fourth place overall but was unable to finish in the top five spots in the final race in order to claim a bronze medal.
A gold medal was out of reach for the sailor who trains at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, but he was in contention for the silver and bronze.
However, the Brit was unable to claw back the five point deficit with Peruvian sailor Stefano Peschiera who won bronze and eventually finished sixth overall in the standings.
Australia's Matt Wearn won gold with Cypriot Pavlos Kontides taking the silver medal in what was wind affected medal race.
The race was originally meant to take place yesterday (August 6), but insufficient wind forced the race to be postponed until this afternoon.
The wind then played its part again after the first race of the afternoon was called off as the breeze dropped again on the south coast of France.
Beckett was in second place in that race at the time the race was postponed, and was pushing Pavlos Kontides for the silver medal and was on course to claim the bronze.
