Dozens of families enjoyed a 'fantastic' day out to celebrate a park in Dorchester for annual event Love Parks Day.
The occasion, organised by Dorchester Town Council, drew crowds to the picturesque Borough Gardens.
The date was rearranged following poor weather the previous week and is part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks initiative.
Love Parks is a week-long celebration, held between July 26 to August 4, to highlight the role that green spaces play in boosting health and wellbeing for communities.
The celebration also honours the winners of the prestigious Green Flag Award, which recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world..
In a celebration of the gardens, the free event hosted fun for children of all ages including a Punch and Judy performance, arts and crafts stalls, face painting, henna tattoos, bouncy castles, inflatables, as well as a treasure trail, run by Discover Dorchester, which included cinema voucher prizes.
There were also refreshment options to choose from cakes to ice cream, with entertainment provided by Keep 106FM.
Mayor of Dorchester Cllr Robin Potter also attended the event and made a wand in the crafts section.
He said: "It was a fantastic day. We all know that Borough Gardens is the jewel in the crown that is Dorchester and is enjoyed by all anyway, but there was even more things to do with all the extra stalls.
"Lots of people attended the day and enjoyed it, including my two grandchildren. The workers and staff of Borough Gardens have worked very hard to secure successive awards and I'm glad to see the town celebrating their hard work."
The event is likely to return next year.
A spokesperson for Dorchester Town Council said: “Thank you to everyone who came to Love Parks Day yesterday. It was great to see so many people out in the sunshine.”
