A car burst into flames following a crash.

The two vehicle crash happened at around 10.53pm last night, with one of the cars setting on fire, with the flames spreading to the nearby undergrowth.

A crew from Swanage Fire Station were able to extinguish the blaze at New Road, Corfe Castle, and make the scene safe using  two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus. 

Upon the firefighters arrival, everyone had made it out of the vehicles safely, suffering minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Swanage Fire Station said: "One pump was sent to a car fire which caught alight following a two vehicle road traffic collision

"The fire, which also spread to nearby undergrowth, was extinguished using two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.

"Luckily everyone was out of both vehicles on our arrival and only suffered minor injuries."

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to New Road, Corfe Castle at 10.54pm last night following a two vehicle road traffic collision.

"One crew from Swanage attended and found one of the cars well alight, so one breathing apparatus wearer and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.

"The occupants of the vehicles were in a safe place when we arrived and were in the care of the ambulance service."

The stop message, meaning that the incident had been dealt with and no further action was required came in at 11.44pm.
