Firework festivities return to Weymouth Beach tonight.
Hosted by Weymouth Town Council, the first of five displays over the summer returns at 9.30pm today (Monday, July 29).
More displays will take place every Monday at 9.30pm through to the final display on August 26.
The free to attend evenings will see fireworks launched from a boat anchored in Weymouth Bay. The firework displays will be provided by Sirotechnics again.
People are encouraged, where possible, to leave their cars at home and walk or use public transport, when getting to and from the displays.
As a bonus, you can also win a £250 cash prize before the displays. To participate, you must write what you love about Weymouth.
You need to supply the Council with your mobile number so that the winner can be contacted on the night. These details will not be kept by the Council after the winner has been picked. Entry is free. Fifty tokens donated by the Helter Skelter Fun Park are also up for grabs.
Last week, the first prize of £250 went to Jessica Ritson from Weymouth, who’s favourite thing about Weymouth is the beach.
The second prize of 50 tokens for the Helter Skelter Fun Park went to Jonathon Wood, from Ilchester who’s favourite things about Weymouth is the sand, sea, fish & chips and the Pavilion.
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Jon Orrell, said: “This is a wonderful initiative to draw people to the seafront to enjoy the fireworks and participate in a free prize draw. Congratulations to the first two lucky winners and good luck to anyone else who enters over the summer.
“Make sure to come down every Monday, enjoy our local hospitality along the seafront and watch the firework displays, firing time is 9.30pm.”
