A two-year-old boy was injured after falling off a wall.
The toddler fell about 5ft onto Cart Road at Lyme Regis seafront and landed on his shoulder.
Police said he wasn't seriously hurt - but he ended up being taken to hospital as a precaution as an ambulance was nearby.
A police spokesperson said of Friday's incident: "Whilst on foot patrol along the seafront we happened to be close by when a two-year-old child had fallen off the wall onto Cart Road, having landed on his right shoulder.
"Luckily he hadn't sustained any serious injury, having got away with some abrasions to his arm and bruising to his ear, but we took the family who were down on holiday to the RNLI Lifeguard Station to be checked over.
"As luck would have it, an ambulance had turned up for an unrelated matter, where the patient had been assessed and was discharged from their care, so they were then available to check the child. Due to having fallen approximately five foot onto Cart Road, they conveyed the child to Dorset County Hospital as a precautionary measure."
