A MAN who had a family heirloom stolen from his wrist while asleep on the beach said he would pay anything to have it back.
Jimmy Cutler from Ferndown fell asleep on Bournemouth Beach after going on a night out in Bournemouth.
He awoke to find his sentimental bracelet, phone and bank cards had been stolen.
He said: “I walked to the beach to the beach to have a cigarette and eat my food. I must have been asleep for about 45 minutes or so, but when I woke up, everything was taken from me."
The bracelet Jimmy was wearing had been passed down through generations in his family and had been treasured for over 50 years. He estimated its value to be between £100,000 and £200,000.
“When my grandad passed away, the bracelet was passed on to me, and it has a lot of sentimental value.
“Money is no object. I will pay anything to get it back.
"If it comes to it, I don’t mind putting out a reward."
Jimmy said he has called every pawn shop in Bournemouth, Southampton, and London but has not been able to locate it.
The person who took Jimmy’s belongings reportedly went on a spending spree using his bank card at multiple different locations and to pay for a £45 taxi.
CCTV cameras at Bournemouth Amusements and Hot Rocks reportedly picked up footage of the incident unfolding, however this has not been confirmed by the police.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report of the theft of a mobile phone and bracelet near Aruba on Bournemouth beach.
“The incident is reported to have occurred at around 4.20am on Sunday 28 July 2024. Enquiries are ongoing into the report. No arrests have been made.
“We have not been asked to issue any CCTV footage at this time.”
Jimmy added: “I’ve been going out in Bournemouth for 20 years and nothing like this has ever happened to me.
“I was surprised that they would steal from me because I am very well known in the area.”
