An air ambulance was scrambled after man in his 60s was assaulted near a busy supermarket.
Police officers, two ambulances, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and an operations officer all rushed to the area of West Bay Road, Bridport, following the incident near to Morrisons supermarket.
It is understood the man was treated on scene by the ambulance service for head injuries that he sustained yesterday.
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said at the time: "We received a report at 12.57pm that a man had sustained injuries following an assault that is believed to have occurred near to the Morrisons supermarket off West Bay Road in Bridport.
"Officers attended and the victim, a man aged in his 60s, was treated by the ambulance service for injuries that were not believed to be serious.
"A man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
"Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries and our investigation is ongoing."
A spokesperson for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm that Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended an incident in Bridport today reported as an adult male with a head injury.
"Our critical care team assisted on scene, before the patient was conveyed to hospital by our South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust colleagues in a road ambulance.
"The team we provided consisted of a doctor and specialist practitioner in critical care, both of whom specialise in pre-hospital emergency medicine. The aircraft was crewed as usual, by a pilot and co-pilot."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12.09pm on Thursday, August 1 to an incident in Bridport.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.”
