Firefighters helped rescue a crew stuck in a lift for more than an hour during one of the hottest days of the year.
Crew from Bridport Fire Station were called to reports of a group of people stuck in a lift on Lower Walditch Lane in Bridport. The incident was reported on Tuesday, July 30 at 7.22pm.
According to firefighters, the group were becoming ‘quite distressed’ over being stuck in close quarters for more than an hour.
Once on the scene, crew gained access to the people inside the lift, supplying them with water before offering them reassurance.
Firefighters then manually lowered the lift to allow people to safely exit.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wilshire Fire and Rescue service said: “The group of people had been stuck for over an hour on one of the hottest days of the year and were becoming quite distressed. Once on scene, crews gained access to the people inside the lift and supplied them with water and offered reassurance. Crew members then manually lowered the lift to allow the people to safely exit.”
