Overnight road closures between Bridport and Dorchester have now finished.
National Highways has confirmed that the roadworks on the A31 from the Crown roundabout in Bridport to the Monkeys Jump roundabout at Poundbury have now ended.
Road closures have been in place from 8pm until 6am on weekdays since July 18 to allow for National Highways to carry out maintenance and repair work.
The work is part of a £350,000 investment to improve the quality of the A31.
It follows road closures in place between Bridport and Axminster which left residents and traders 'infuriated'.
These lasted for three weeks, ending on July 18 and also involved repairs to Chideock Hill as part of a £2 million project to stabilise the road following a landslip.
A road closure will be in place tonight further east on the A31 between the Stinsford and Bere Regis for surfacing work.
A 'clearly signed diversion route' is in place for these works, National Highways says.
There is no further planned work on the A31 in Dorset this year.
