A coffee club encouraging social connections whilst combatting loneliness has been celebrating its third anniversary.
Age UK North, South and West Dorset run the events, and marked the occasion of Thursday, July 25 with a festive gathering of cake and music at the Dorchester YMCA.
Established three years ago, the coffee club was the first of the charity’s face-to-face social groups to operate following the Covid pandemic. Since then, it has provided support to more than 70 individuals.
Meeting every Thursday between 10.30am to 12pm, the club offers a welcoming environment for members to enjoy refreshments, participate in games and activities, and listen to guest speakers.
Sara Bonnar, wellbeing facilitator for the charity’s local branch, said: “We are incredibly proud of the Coffee Club and the positive impact it has had on our community.
“The success of this group is a testament to the spirit of our members and volunteers. We look forward to many more years of friendship and support.”
To mark this special occasion, Age UK North, South, and West Dorset hosted a birthday party-themed session during its weekly meeting, complete with cakes and music, inviting all attendees to join in the festivities.
Sessions are free to attend, with donations for refreshments are appreciated.
