A motorway crash has caused delays of up to an hour.
Emergency services were called to a single-car crash around 10am today (Tuesday, July 30) on the M5 between junction 23 to Bridgwater, and junction 24 to Taunton.
The M5 was then closed from junction 23 to junction 24. One lane northbound has since reopened, but delays of 60 minutes are expected. Diversions have been put in place.
The road is frequently used by people in Dorset, who use the motorway to travel to Bristol Airport.
Travel Somerset said in an update: "M5 update - one lane northbound has reopened - significant delays of 60 mins each way, plus major congestion in and around Bridgwater. Please plan ahead."
Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: "We were called at around 10am today (Tuesday 30 July) to a single-vehicle collision on the M5 between junction 23 (Bridgwater) and junction 24 (Taunton).
"The carriageway is closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene.
"If anyone was in the area and witnessed the collision, or have dashcam footage, please call 101 and quote reference 5224198427."
National Highways have put two diversions in place:
Southbound Diversion Route:
"Road users are advised to follow the Solid Square diversion symbols on road signs. Exit the M5 at J23.
"At the roundabout take the third exit onto the A39. At the Dunball roundabout, take the first exit onto the A38 (Bristol Road) southbound.
"Continue along the A38 and at the junction with Taunton Road, the A38 turns left. Take the left onto Taunton Road to continue on the A38.
"At the roundabout with Huntworth Lane, take the first exit onto Huntworth Lane. Re-join the M5 at J24."
Northbound Diversion Route:
"Road users are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs.
"Leave the M5 northbound at J24 and take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto the A38.
"Follow the A38 through Bridgewater to the roundabout with the A39 and take the 3rd exit onto the A39.
"Continue on the A39 to the M5 J23 roundabout and take the 1st exit to rejoin the M5 northbound."
