A MAN was “punched in the face” leaving him with a fractured jaw and broken glasses.
The victim, in his 30s, was assaulted in the gravel car park at Verwood Town Football Club in Potterne Way, near to Verwood Day Nursery.
It was reported that the victim had been involved in an argument with another man, who then proceeded to punch him in the face, causing two fractures to his jaw and damaging his glasses.
The incident happened at just before 1pm on Saturday, July 27.
Following enquiries, a man aged in his 30s from West Parley was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.
He has been released under investigation as officers carry out further enquiries.
Sergeant Ben Turner, of Dorset County criminal investigations department, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.
“I would also like to appeal to any motorists with dashcam footage who were in the car park around the relevant time to please check their footage to see if they have captured anything to assist our enquiries.”
