A fire broke out in a flat near Blandford yesterday evening.
Firefighters from Bere Regis and Blandford rushed to the scene of a flat fire in Blandford St Mary where it was believed a person was still inside.
Upon arrival firefighters established that the fire had been put out and that the occupant of the flat was safe and unharmed.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wilshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 6.48pm yesterday (July 28) firefighters from Blandford and Bere Regis were called to reports of a fire in a flat in Chettell Way, Blandford, where the occupant was reported to still be in the property.
"Before the arrival of the Bere Regis crew, firefighters from Blandford established a small fire in the kitchen was out on their arrival and the occupant was safe.
"The cause of this incident was believed to be cooking."
