An incredible post box topper has been created to pay homage to a local community swimming group.

The Preston Road post box in Weymouth has been targeted by a group of anonymous yarn bombers in an extra-special way.

The creation depicts three swimmers, one of which is even adorned with a swimming hat, goggles, and its very own Bluetits badge.

A lot of thought and intricacy has clearly been put into the design as another of the little knitted dolls holds a surfboard.

Surrounding the bottom of the creation, there are a number of unique sea creatures, including an octopus, a selection of colourful clownfish, as well as a mermaid.

Bluetits of Weymouth Bay is a branch of the global Bluetits chill swimmers – a volunteer-led peer to peer social community which aims to create inclusive and informal space for women to unite over a shared love of cold and open water swimming.

There are many benefits to sea swimming as it can improve your fitness levels and your metabolism, it may also help with aches and pains.

According to the RNLI, it can improve your circulation, it may help to boost your immune system, it helps some people manage their mental health and can reduce your stress levels.

Additionally, it can help people find a community by meeting friendly fellow swimmers and it gives you a natural high, leaving you feeling euphoric and exhilarated, it’s also a great chance to get out and about in nature.

Elsewhere in Weymouth, a number of impressive summer themed yarn-bomb creations are also on display.

This includes the giant ice cream cones which are currently taking over the south harbourside which were inspired by childhood memories of Neapolitan ice creams being sold from bicycles.

Additionally, a group of anonymous knitters have targeted a post box on Portland Road, however their summer themed creation marks the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Another post box to keep an eye on is the one that sits halfway down Rylands Lane. The mystery crafter behind that one previously revealed to the Echo that she has big plans for the summer.
