The only cinema in Weymouth is at risk of closure as Cineworld looks set to axe some of its cinemas across the country.
Reports suggest hundreds of job losses could come as part of a restructuring plan.
Earlier in the month the cinema chain was reportedly drawing up plans to exit dozens of its roughly 100 sites.
Cineworld, on New Bond Street in Weymouth, is the only cinema left in the town and one of only a handful of indoor leisure activities.
Residents spoke to The Echo about the impact a closure would have.
Retired businessman Don Moseley said: "They have got the Plaza in Dorchester. It is always full because of the price, it is affordable.
"My wife and my daughter go there all the time.
"These days it is all about affordability, if they had a sign on the front saying 'any seat £3.50', they wouldn't be thinking about closure.
"It is better to have somebody in than nobody.
"It is terrible to see.
"I had a business in Weymouth for years and I would not like to be in business in this day and age because it is so tough."
Stacey and Kevin Hobbs said they do not go to the cinema anymore due to the price and they wait for films to appear on streaming services or satellite TV.
Stacey said: "We haven't been to the cinema in years
"There aren't many decent films anymore and a lot of them are on Sky TV now.
"If you had asked us a few years ago, it would have affected us but now you can just wait for it to come out on TV.
Kevin added: "It is not something that would really affect us, since the pandemic, there are no decent films anymore.
"You can wait for it to come on TV and it is much cheaper because you are at home."
Hannah Simmons said: "It would bother me.
"It is so depressing that we are losing cinemas across the country, I think it is so different to watching at home.
"It would be another big building left empty and it is somewhere to take the kids when it is raining.
"Soon there won't be anything left to do in the town when the weather is rubbish."
