A STEAM train is heading to Weymouth later today to bring passengers to the seaside.

The Dorset Coast Express will pass through Bournemouth, Poole, Wareham and Dorchester and arrive in Weymouth train station at 2.08pm, today, Wednesday, July 24.

It will leave to make its return journey to London at 5.36pm.

The train left London Victoria station at around 8.45am and is steam hauled by Black 5 class steam locomotive No. 44871.

The excursion, offered by the Railway Touring Company, says it will give visitors 'almost three and a half hours in Weymouth to discover much of what this seaside town has to offer. The railway station is close to the beach and shops.'
