A teen from Dorchester has been arrested for possession of class A and class B drugs, with intent to supply as well as possessing a knife in public.
Dorset Police received a report at 6.08pm on Sunday, July 21 of three teenagers being chased by a group of people around the area of the Jubilee Clock Tower on Weymouth Esplanade.
Patrolling officers were on the scene and carried out searches, with the assistance of a dog unit. Three people were subsequently located around Abbotsbury Road and detained for searches.
Two teenage boys were searched, with their details taken down before they were escorted home to their parents.
A third teenager, 17, from Dorchester, was allegedly found to be in possession of a knife and a quantity of suspected illegal drugs. He was arrested o suspicion of affray, possession of class A and class B drugs with intent to supply and possessing a bladed article in a public place.
He has since been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police, said: “We received a report at 6.08pm on Sunday 21 July 2024 of three teenagers being chased by a group of people in the area of the Jubilee Clock Tower on Weymouth Esplanade.
“Officers on patrol in the area were quickly on the scene and carried out searches of the area, with the assistance of a dog unit. Three people were subsequently located in the area of Abbotsbury Road and detained for searches.
“Two teenage boys were searched and nothing was located, their details were taken and they were escorted home to their parents.
“A third teenager, aged 17 and from Dorchester, was reportedly found to be in possession of a knife and a quantity of suspected illegal drugs.
“He was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of class A and class B drugs with intent to supply and possessing a bladed article in a public place. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are conducted.”
