A MAN was caught driving without a licence or insurance in Weymouth.
Dimitri Stergio, of Wood Green in London, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 19.
He was assisted by a Greek interpreter.
He pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle on a road without third-party insurance.
On June 29 he was found driving a vehicle on Jubilee Close, whilst disqualified and without insurance.
The court heard Stergio had also been caught driving whilst disqualified in Northampton.
He will be sentenced for both the offences in Weymouth and in Northampton at a hearing in Northampton Magistrates' Court.
Kate Moore, prosecuting, said: “On Saturday, June 29, officers driving on Dorchester Road were drawn attention to a vehicle. It is said it was driving erratically.
“The vehicle stopped at a roundabout in the wrong lane.
“Officers followed the vehicle and conducted checks.
“He was stopped by police and exited the vehicle.
“He produced a Greek licence and it was found he was disqualified from driving.
“Stergio also had no insurance.
“On May 1 2024, he was disqualified from driving.
“The disqualification was in place for less than two months.”
Simon Lacey, mitigating: “Clearly this is a case that court is going to need pre-sentence reports for.
“I am aware that his local court is Wood Green Magistrates’ Court.
"Normally the court would remit him for sentence in his home court.
“I am aware the offence in Northampton is a similar offence.
“He attended court recently but there was no interpreter.
“It was four of five days ago in Northampton, that case is not until September 4.
“Both cases need to be sentenced together.
"I suggest it is adjourned for reports.”
The case was adjourned until a hearing in Northampton Magistrates’ Court on September 4, for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
He was released on unconditional bail.
