DORSET have a “brilliant opportunity” to display their skills against major county Hampshire on NCCA Showcase weekend, head coach Paul Lawrence insists.
Dorset welcome the Hawks to Wimborne’s The Leaze ground looking to cause an upset in the 50-over one-off game tomorrow (11am).
The Dorset player pathway has also played a big role in the development of Hampshire stars Eddie Jack, Tom Prest, Scott Currie and Joseph Eckland.
And Lawrence is keen to show Dorset can compete against one of the best county sides in England.

He told Echosport: “It’s a brilliant opportunity for us to showcase our skills against a first-class county who are about to start a white-ball comp.
“They’re going to be coming out here to try and execute their game plans. We’re expecting their batters to keep on coming and coming.
“Their bowlers will have extra pace, which is something our batters won’t have come across before.
“It’s just what you’d expect from a professional outfit.”
Dorset’s players also have the chance to put themselves in the shop window, with many on the fringes of major county setups already.
Lawrence said: “We’ve got some players in the Hampshire Academy so if they impress on the day it’s a win-win for everyone.
“You want to turn up to these games and prove that it’s actually worth it. Hampshire have got a good record in one-day cricket and we don’t want to be rolled over.
“You want it to be a really competitive fixture.”
