Weymouth and Lyme Regis have been ranked among the 50 best seaside towns in the UK for 2024 according to Which?

The consumer champion surveyed over 4,700 people about their experiences of UK seaside towns in the last year to create the list.

Categories that were scored out of five included beaches, tourist attractions, value for money and more.

Overall, there were 126 locations scored with Lyme Regis coming in 13th place and Weymouth featuring in 43rd.

How did Weymouth and Lyme Regis score on the rankings?

Overall, Lyme Regis had an audience score of 77%, whilst Weymouth's was slightly lower at 72%.

In terms of scoring, Lyme Regis earned the full 5/5 mark in the scenery and seafront/pier categories.

Elsewhere, it got 4/5 in beaches, food & drink, accommodation and value for money.

Despite being inside the top 15, it did have a 2/5 score for a couple of categories, including peace & quiet and parking.

Meanwhile, Weymouth scored an impressive 5/5 in the beaches category and a 4/5 for scenery and seafront/pier.

Most of its categories were at the 3/5 mark including tourist attractions, food & drink and parking, whilst it only had a 2/5 score for peace & quiet.

Bamburgh in Northumberland took the top spot with an impressive overall score of 86%, retaining its title from last year.

At the other end of the table, Bangor, Gwynedd took last place with a destination score of 42%, followed by Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire with a score of 46%.

“While you may have your own favourite coastal spot, this year’s survey shows that it’s worth looking beyond the most famous resorts this summer, to the lesser-visited hidden gems  in every corner of the UK.”
