BAD parking on a road in Wyke Regis has been described as an "accident waiting to happen" by a local councillor.
A member of the public made a request to Weymouth Town.
Concern has been raised that cars regularly parked close to the junction on Marlborough Avenue causes a blind spot for drivers leaving Lessingham Avenue.
The request was to have the junction between the two roads to be made safe.
Mr Green, a local resident, addressed the Planning and Licencing Committee at Weymouth Town Council on Tuesday, July 16.
He said: "For several years, parking has been unrestricted.
"People park on Marlborough Avenue on the edge of the junction.
"As you leave the junction, there is no line of site towards Portland.
"We can never drive onto Marlborough Avenue safely, we have to inch onto the road until we know there is no traffic.
"There is no line of sight whatsoever.
"If there is a bike or motorbike that may not be able to be seen.
"Residents are met with this every morning and evening.
"I have contacted police and they say there is nothing they can do, even though it is against the Highway Code.
"There is no deterrent for people not to park there."
Cllr Thomas Taylor, who is also the ward member for Wyke Regis said: "Myself and Cllr Toft went down to visit the gentleman who raised the issue.
"I can completely see where he is coming from.
"It is an accident waiting to happen.
"The way people are parked, you just cannot physically see the traffic
"I parked down the road and I watched it for five minutes and I would not feel safe pulling out of that road.
"There is a caravan park near there as well, if people are getting the wrong directions they could end up down there.
"It is dangerous."
Committee members agreed to support the request.
The request will now go to Dorset Council, who will make the final decision on traffic calming measures.
