The police have introduced a ban on overnight motorhome stays on two Portland car parks.
Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team has confirmed plans to provide better car parks at New Ground and Masonic in response to public concerns.
It has been reported that there have been issues with littering, waste disposal and demand for public toilet facilities due to the increase in motorhomes on the car parks.
Overnight stays (10pm - 8am) for motorhomes are now banned to provide more space for visitors and locals.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: " Responding to public concerns, Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working with Dorset Council to provide better car parks at New Ground and Masonic on Portland.
"It had been noted that both car parks had begun to resemble campsites many days of the year. This had created issues around littering, waste disposal, and demand for public toilet facilities.
"Overnight stays (10pm - 8am) for motorhomes are now prohibited.
"This will hopefully provide more parking space for visitors and locals who use them responsibly. Both car parks remain free to use."
