A new clothes shop will be opening up along a high street in Dorchester.

Cotton Traders, a British clothing company specialising in leisurewear will be opening a new location on South Street.

It has been confirmed that the shop will open up on 1B on South Street, next to the Works, where the former Trespass shop used to be until it close.

A spokesperson has confirmed that the planned opening date of the shop will be Saturday, August 10. 

This is the second Cotton Traders location that will be open in the county, with the other location based on Ringwood Road in Wimborne. The company is currently advertising for a manager, supervisor and sales assistants on job websites for a site along the high street.

A host of new shops have recently opened in Dorchester, with a resurgence of filled spaces along arcade of Antelope Walk, across from where the new clothes shop will be located. In all, more than 22 shops have opened in the town in the past two years.

Pete Johnson, Retail Sales Manager at Cotton Traders, said: “We are so pleased to be expanding our retail offering with our new store in Dorchester, and we anticipate that the site will be a hit with our loyal customer base in the Dorset area. Keep your eyes peeled as we have something exciting planned to mark the opening day!”

Phil Gordon, project director for the Dorchester BID, said: “Cotton traders are certainly a well known and sought after store so I'm delighted to welcome them to Dorchester where I think they will fit in well with the existing high street offering in town.  

“I'm sure they will find many fans new and old making the trip to Dorchester to discover what they have to offer these days.

“We have had a real flurry of new businesses opening in town recently and its great to have a mix of Independents and multis in the mix - It’s what Dorchester does best and, its already having a positive impact on the high street, drawing more people into town.”

Cotton Traders have been based on high streets up and down the country for more than 30 years, after being founded in Manchester.
