A VILLAGE hall near Dorchester is asking to fit 24 solar panels to part of its south west facing roof.

The application comes the Sydling St Nicholas for the High Street building.

The site is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is considered to be environmentally sensitive although the hall committee claims the scheme has been designed to minimise any visual impact and, overall, will be a positive benefit to the community in line with Dorset Council’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2050.

The application says it understands the parish council will not object to the proposal.
