A traditional interpretation of a Shakespeare classic is coming to Dorset.
An open air production of Hamlet will be performed at Athelhampton House and Gardens in Puddletown by the theatre group The Lord Chamberlain's Men.
It will be performed at 7pm on Friday, July 19 as part of Dorchester Arts' summer programme of events.
Now in its 20th year, the group present Shakespeare’s work as he first saw it with an all male cast, an open air venue and with Elizabethan costume, music and dance.
It was founded after the 16th century playing company, of the same name, that William Shakespeare worked for as actor and playwright for nearly a third of his career.
Hamlet is thought to have been written by William Shakespeare sometime between 1599 and 1601 where the Danish prince, Hamlet, attempts to carry out revenge against his uncle who murdered Hamlet’s father to seize the throne.
Tickets are £18 for adults, and £11 for people aged under 16 and can be purchased on Dorchester Arts website: https://tinyurl.com/38w98dat
