A SUSPECT who allegedly stole £500 worth of items from a Weymouth shop has been charged with four counts of theft.
Officers from Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team caught the alleged shoplifter after chasing him through the town centre on Tuesday, July 9.
The offences relate to thefts from the Redlands Service Station in Dorchester Road between April 24 and May 17, 2024.
Daniel John Ford, aged 34 and of no fixed abode, has been charged with four offences of theft and is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday July 25.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing officers on 100 Days of Summer patrol located a wanted male on Tuesday evening, who officers had been looking for in relation to four outstanding shopliftings at a local establishment.
"The thefts totalled over £500 and the offender was constantly targeting that location and had been sought by Police for some time.
"After a short chase the male was apprehended in Crescent Street and arrested by NPT. The male was taken to Weymouth Custody and charged with 4 counts of theft and has been summoned to court. "
