Two people have been arrested after a woman was assaulted by a group on a popular walking trail in Weymouth.

A woman was walking along the Rodwell Trail and had just passed under Buxton Road when she reportedly saw four people who were known to her.

It was reported that the woman – aged in her 20s from Portland – was assaulted by the group. She attended the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be serious.

The incident happened at around 12pm on Wednesday, June 12, but police have only now launched an appeal.

Following enquiries, an 18-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man – both from Luton in Bedfordshire – were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They have been released on police bail as further investigative work is carried out.
