Major disruption is impacting Dorset rail commuters.

Due to signalling problems across the South Western Railway (SWR) network trains are being delayed.

This includes services between Weymouth and London, Waterloo due to a signalling problem between Poole and Hamworthy.

Disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.

A spokesperson for SWR said: " We have been informed that there is a signalling problem between Poole and Hamworthy. This means that trains will be running at a reduced speed on the line towards Weymouth.

The train running from Weymouth to Waterloo at 6.03pm has also been cancelled due to a train fault.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”

Additionally, rail commuters travelling towards Exeter St Davids, through Axminster, Sherborne and Gillingham may also experience delays due to a signalling problem between Crewkerne and Axminster.

However, this is expected to be fixed by 5.30pm
